Stones of Kashmir

Posted in Poetry by Karthick RM on September 2, 2010

It strikes like thunder
on your helmet
shattering the brittle
fabric of your democracy.
Under its shower
you run naked.
Exposed. Shameless.
With only your arms
for cover.
What are you
without that?
From the streets,
from the rooftops,
from the windows,
from the tender palms,
it pours, it pours,
like Allah’s thunder.
The stone.
The building brick
of our free country.
